Entry into exclusive negotiations on October 24 with PHE (D’Ieteren Group) for the acquisition of its subsidiary Mondial Pare-Brise, Macif has finalized the acquisition of the 3rd French player in the market windshield repair and replacement. With the acquisition of this virtuous player, Macif, the auto insurance leader, demonstrates its commitment to the quality of the relationship and purchasing power for the benefit of policyholders.

The linking of Mondial Pare-Brise to Macif will respect its autonomy and will preserve its open growth model and its numerous partnerships with other insurers.

With the approval of the competition authorities, Macif finalized on February 10, 2023 the acquisition of Mondial Pare-Brise for an amount of €103 million. With a national network of 806 points of sale (113 branches, 260 franchisees and 433 relay points), Mondial Pare-Brise, the 3rd national player, is distinguished by competitive prices, extensive coverage and recognized quality of service. The company has more than 400 employees (1,200 including the franchise network) and achieved a business volume of €146 million in 2022 including the results of the franchises.

By positioning itself on the repair market and more particularly glass breakage, Macif, the leading car insurance company in terms of the number of contracts in France, responds to a critical issue for both insurers and their customers. In fact, the inflation of repair costs for glass breakage (average cost of the BG claim up 42% between 2015 and 2021, i.e. + 6% per year on average), due to the economic context, technological developments and certain commercial practices, has repercussions on insurance premiums and ultimately weighs on the purchasing power of the French.

With the acquisition of Mondial Pare-Brise, Macif becomes the first French insurer to acquire a car glass repair and replacement network; a major lever to control the automotive after-sales value chain and thus act against the increase in the cost of repairs and therefore in automobile insurance rates. With the acquisition of this virtuous player in the market, which stands out for its position as a “friend of insurers and policyholders”, it significantly demonstrates its commitment to purchasing power, in an open model, and this , for the benefit of its members and motorists in general.

This acquisition reinforces Macif’s strategic ambition to establish itself as a benchmark player in the mobility ecosystem and once again reveals the disruptive DNA of Macif, a popular and favorite brand of the French, since its creation, has always displayed its desire to act in the general interest.

For its part, Mondial Pare-Brise will retain its commercial and management autonomy and will continue its open growth model, in partnership with all insurers. The structure will be able to benefit from the support of Macif to accelerate its growth and carry out its development strategy. A collaboration that is all the more relevant as its economic model, based on proximity, quality of service and performance, is in perfect harmony with the values of Macif.
