DIY for cars: desire and reality are far apart

As part of this study, 2,000 car drivers responsible for maintenance in Germany were surveyed. The results show that there are still a large number of drivers who would like to avoid visiting garages, primarily to save money but also because they enjoy working on their cars. Friends and acquaintances often come into play to do this work.

Among other things, the study sheds light on the DIY potential, i.e. the group of people who carry out or would like to carry out work themselves.

In addition, there are those who do not go directly to a workshop, but rely on third parties.

Nevertheless, the results of the study show that over 90% of jobs are carried out by garages.

IIFM (Install it for me) is also an issue. In this case, drivers usually buy the parts they need online and then look for a professional garage to install them. The tire market is also a key driver here.
