Out for ATU in Switzerland: the garage chain closes all branches there. The bankruptcy proceedings are already underway.
The District Court of Winterthur opened bankruptcy on April 20, 2020 over the Swiss subsidiary of the Auto-Teile-Unger ( ATU ) workshop chain . Six branches in Winterthur, Hinwil, Spreitenbach, Suhr, Oftringen and Bellach are affected. A company spokesman said on request that the locations that had been closed since March 21 due to corona-related restrictions would not be reopened.
The reason for the decision was therefore that ATU could not achieve a sufficiently large business volume in Switzerland that would enable sustainably profitable business operations. The restructuring measures initiated in 2019 also failed to achieve the desired success. The members of staff have been informed of the decision, the spokesman said.
According to Swiss media reports, 75 employees are expected to lose their jobs. .
ATU has been part of the European market leader Mobivia since 2016. In total, the 10,000 employees generate annual sales of around one billion euros.
