TEMOT International welcomes a new shareholder to its network: Merlin Diesel Ltd, a leading global supplier of spare parts and test equipment for diesel injection systems headquartered in Lancashire, UK, has joined the International Trading Group, effective January 2023.

Merlin Diesel is an authorized distributor and service partner for world renowned brands. The company supplies customers in more than 100 countries with products for automotive, industrial, rail and marine applications. It stocks a wide range of diesel injection spare parts, starters, alternators, and vehicle electronic components. In addition, the range includes fuel pumps and fuel injectors, available new or remanufactured to the manufacturers’ specifications. The company’s portfolio further covers a lineup of oil, fuel, air and hydraulic filters as well as diagnostic equipment and repair solutions for diesel systems.
Branches and Subsidiaries: Expanding Presence in the UK and China
Merlin Diesel’s headquarters in Preston, Lancashire, provides 7,110 square meters of space for sales as well as testing and remanufacturing facilities, plus a 5,200 square-meter warehouse with a continuous inventory of 137,000 SKUs. Apart from the Preston site, the company operates three further branches in the UK: one in Halifax (Yorkshire), one in Harrow (London) and one in Colchester, where it recently acquired Colchester Fuel Injection. In addition, it owns a subsidiary in Shanghai, China: Kunshan Merlin Diesel. All UK branches maintain service and remanufacturing facilities for diesel injection systems.
A Rich History: 75 Years of Expertise and Evolution
The company looks back at 75 years of history. The company “Merlin” was founded in 1947, specializing in diesel fuel injection, test equipment, maintenance, and machinery. In 1960, the company was renamed to “Merlin International Engineers Ltd” and began testing and calibrating diesel fuel injection equipment for motor vehicles, rail vehicles, ships, and plants. In 1991, the current chairman and director Ken Bramley, along with the finance director Jonathan Chaytor at the time, made the final purchase of the company, renaming it to “Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd” in 2001. Today, it employs 150 people.
