The sale of OE parts to independent workshops was becoming ever more important in the after-sales business for manufacturers, dealers and workshops — opening an interesting and innovative business field. As diagnostic and calibration work on modern vehicles increased, more independent workshops turned to OE parts, while the price gap between IAM and OE parts steadily narrowed.
In Wolk & Nikolic’s assessment at the time, IAM garages already sourced 25–30% OE parts through the manufacturer network. High-caliber executives from the complete supply chain — car and parts manufacturers, dealer groups, IAM wholesalers, insurers, online OE suppliers and a renowned multi-brand workshop — debated the future of OE-to-IAM trade in Europe.
